01. ABOUT RECIPES

Green Gram Adai is a protein-rich South Indian savoury pancake made from soaked whole or split green gram (Moong dal) combined with a small amount of rice for texture. Flavoured with finely chopped onions, green chili, ginger, and cumin seeds, this adai are lightly cooked on a tawa with minimal oil. It is soft, filling, and ideal as a nutritious breakfast, snack, or light meal for all age groups.

02.INGREDIENTS

  • Green gram (whole or split Moong) – 20 g (soaked)
  • Rice – 5 g (optional, for texture)
  • Onion – 3 g (finely chopped)
  • Green chili – 0.5 g (optional)



  • Ginger – 0.5 g (optional)
  • Cumin seeds – 0.2 g
  • Salt – to taste
  • Oil – 1 g (for cooking)

04. INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Soak green gram (and rice, if used) for 2–3 hours. Drain and grind with chili, ginger, and cumin into a coarse batter.
  • Add chopped onion and salt. Mix well.
  • Heat a tawa, lightly grease with oil, pour batter, and spread into a small thick adai.
  • Cook on both sides until golden brown. Serve hot.
