01. ABOUT RECIPES

Vermicelli Upma is a light and wholesome South Indian breakfast dish made from roasted vermicelli cooked with finely chopped vegetables like carrot, beans, and peas, along with onions, green chillies, ginger, and curry leaves. Tempered with mustard seeds and lightly cooked in oil, it results in a soft, flavourful, and nutrient-rich dish. 02.INGREDIENTS

  • Roasted vermicelli – 35g
  • Onion – 15g (finely chopped)
  • Green chili – 2g (slit or chopped)
  • Ginger – 2g (finely chopped)
  • Curry leaves – 1g



  • Oil – 1 tsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1g
  • Water – For Cooking
  • Salt – as per taste
  • Carrots, Beans, Peas – 15g total (finely chopped)

04. INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, and allow them to splutter.
  • Add curry leaves, chopped green chili, ginger, and onion. Sauté till translucent.
  • Add chopped vegetables (if using) and sauté for 2–3 minutes.
  • Add water and salt, bring to a boil.
  • Add roasted vermicelli, stir well, reduce flame, and cook covered till soft and fluffy.
  • Fluff with a fork and serve hot.
