01. ABOUT RECIPES

Wheat Rava Upma is a wholesome South Indian breakfast dish made from broken wheat (Dalia) cooked with onions, green chillies, ginger, curry leaves, and a tempering of mustard seeds and urad dal. Lightly cooked in minimal oil, it results in a soft, flavourful, and nutritious porridge-like dish. It is a fiber-rich, filling, and easily digestible alternative to traditional semolina upma, suitable for all age groups.

02.INGREDIENTS

  • Wheat rava (broken wheat/Dalia) – 35 g
  • Onion – 15 g
  • Green chilli – 2 g
  • Ginger – 2 g
  • Curry leaves – 0.5 g



  • Mustard seeds – 1 g
  • Urad dal – 2 g
  • Oil – 3 g
  • Water – Required

04. INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, let them splutter.
  • Add urad dal, sauté until golden.
  • Add curry leaves, green chilli, and ginger; sauté for a few seconds.
  • Add onions and sauté until translucent.
  • Add wheat rava and dry roast for 2–3 minutes.
  • Pour in hot water and salt; stir continuously to avoid lumps.
  • Cook on low flame until the water is absorbed and the upma turns fluffy.
  • Serve hot.
